It ended well.
AVIS brought me a replacement car.
It took about four phone calls.
The last one I made April 1, when the car was officially expired.
I finally called the Roadside Emergency number.
It was an emergency.
Sort of.
After all, if I got pulled over for driving on expired plates, they'd have a crazy man on their hands.
Once the cop drove away.
We were in Jamestown Settlement for a few hours.
The guy met us in the parking lot for the exchange.
He was looking at me funny.
I guess the phone people told him I had asked why they didn't just send out a guy with a couple of replacement stickers, inspect it right there and then.
Be easier than having to scramble the troops for a replacement car.
"We can't do that," they said.
Oh.
Okay.
Just sayin.
